A perfect OdysseyGuessr round scores 5,000 points, and you get it by naming the right kingdom and placing your pin within a small circle around the real spot. Both parts matter, and the second one is more forgiving than most players think. Here is how the formula works and a routine that gets you there.
The two rules
- Wrong kingdom: the round is worth 0 points, no matter how close the pin looks on the wrong map.
- Right kingdom: your score depends only on how far your pin is from the real location on that kingdom's map.
How distance becomes points
The map is measured as a square from 0 to 1 on each axis. Any pin within 0.025 of the target counts as perfect and gives the full 5,000. Beyond that the score falls off smoothly: 5,000 × e^(−5 × (distance − 0.025)). In plain terms, you lose points quickly at first and then more slowly.
- Within 0.025 of the target: 5,000
- Distance 0.05: about 4,412
- Distance 0.10: about 3,436
- Distance 0.15: about 2,676
- Distance 0.20: about 2,084
- Distance 0.30: about 1,264
- Distance 0.40: about 767
- Distance 0.50: about 465
Distance 0.10 means one tenth of the map across. Even a decent guess in the right area keeps well over 3,000 points, so the biggest gain is usually the last small step from "nearby" to "exactly".
A routine for perfect pins
1. Name the kingdom before touching the map
Look at the sky, the colours and the architecture first. Our look-alike kingdom cheat sheet and the kingdom guides help with the hard ones.
2. Find an anchor
Pick one thing in the screenshot that exists once on the map, such as a tower, a big structure or a distinctive shoreline.
3. Use size and angle
A landmark that looks huge is close; a tiny one is far. Combine that with which side you see it from.
4. Zoom the map before you pin
Zoom in so one pixel is a tiny fraction of the map. You only need to land inside the 0.025 circle.
5. Review every round
After the reveal, look at where the real spot was and why. That habit teaches more than any guide.
Practise
Start a game and write down your average per round for a week. Then compare it with the table above to see how close your average pin is.
